Over the years we have gained significant knowledge and expertise through our participation in R&D projects.
Today, our software platforms have a high level of maturity, but we are keen on finding new innovative solutions and ideas and evolving them.
We are constantly in search of new R&D opportunities, both in Greek and European programs and continuously keep in touch with our partners from the research and academic community, the public and private sector.
2015 – e-Tourism “Innovative LBS/GIS electronic services using Augmented Reality technology for the tourism sector”
The project “Innovative LBS/GIS electronic services, using Augmented Reality technology for the tourism sector” is mainly focused on the technology review, design and pilot implementation of innovative mobile services for the tourism sector. Research will focus on the area of Mobile and Web services for e-Tourism that combine: Augmented Reality applications, Maps and GIS for content structuring and presentation and Location-Based Services with context awareness, social networking and other innovative features.
2008 – Forest Fuel
The project “Standardization and Methodology for Forest Fuel Management in Attica- Forest Fuel” was about the creation of a methodology for forest fire behavior forecast, with the use of special models and the exploitation of new technologies. The target of this project was the better prognosis (anti-fire planning, working towards the decrease of the danger coming from vegetation, fire-danger forecasting etc.) and fire repression in Attica. This methodology was based on data on forest fuel in Attica, its characteristics and its allocation.
2008 – eTransport
The project “System combining E-ticketing, Customer Loyalty, and physical access in transportation means” was about the creation of a complete platform comprised of software and equipment, which offered Customer Loyalty, E-ticketing and passenger physical access services, with the use of innovative technologies, including wireless smart-cards and RFID tickets.
The application of these services allows a number of involved agents, such as shipping companies, companies that use passenger loyalty systems and railway companies to excel, by giving emphasis on time-consuming routes that require passenger cabins, or time-consuming routes by wagon-lit. In Addition it facilitates passengers themselves, who will make use of the new services.
2007 – HERON-P “Integral Study and Requirement Analysis for the Management of Natural and Technological Risks”
The project “Integral Study and Requirement Analysis for the Management of Natural and Technological Risks” included the elaboration of an integral study on contemporary dangers in Greece, disaster management authorities, confrontation structures, strategies, readiness, knowledge and research levels as well as a proposal for a reliable business methodology and technology tools for crisis management and decision making.
This methodology enables authorities- users (Civil Services, Local Authorities, Industry), who are involved in dealing with natural and technological disasters, to manage all information and data, which are needed for their organization, in order to meet their business needs and Greek society’s demands. Therefore, emergency situations will be dealt with and citizens will be better protected against disastrous events.
2005 – PAVET-NE “Advanced Sales-Support and Consumer-Behavior Analysis System”
The project “Advanced Sales-Support and Consumer-Behavior Analysis System” included the development of an original information system to support selling procedures. Its purpose was to support salesmen when guiding the customer, in order for the latter to make the best buy in terms of characteristics and price.
More specifically, the system analyses customer behavior data to exhibit standardized behaviors and relate with needs. Resulting behavior models can be utilized for the appropriate products (or services) to be proposed and the customer needs to be covered in a better way. In other words, the system enables a complicated search into the desired characteristics of a product, according to customer needs, and produces all the products bearing these characteristics.
2004 – SEIS IMPACT-THESS
The project “System for the Evaluation of Seismic Impact on the Built Environment of the Thessaloniki Prefecture – SEISIMPACT-THESS” included the development of an open architecture information system for digitizing, processing and organizing the files that contain the damages of the buildings in Thessaloniki after the earthquake of 1978.
The system may be used for the utilization of similar data in other areas as well as for the utilization and use of other geographically-distributed information. It provides access-control capabilities for various user groups (researchers, professionals etc.).
